Maai [mah-ah-ee] n. Japanese for interval, break or pause.
What could be more luxurious than a blend of 70% superbaby alpaca and 30% merino wool? Maai's chainette construction makes it light, springy, and warm, and versatile enough to knit at almost any gauge. Shibui hits it out of the park again.

One of the softest yarns -- after cashmere

The Maai yarn was recommended to me for a simple poncho pattern and I was skeptical to knit with it because of the interesting "woven" effect if has, but my needles grabbed it easily and it was a delight to work with. This is amazingly soft yarn with a bit of spring to it and it drapes just beautifully. I will knit with it again and highly recommend it against the skin.
