Weather or Knot Scarf Kit - Loft Version

(2 reviews) Write a Review

UPDATE: Thanks for your interest in Weather or Knot! Please note, while we have many colors of Loft, we WILL be making color substitutions for these colorways at this point. If you'd like specific colors, please consider making your own kit by choosing 7 colors of Loft by Brooklyn Tweed.

Track the temperature for 2019 in a unique way, by creating a scarf that changes colors as the temperature does. The 2019 Weather or Knot knit-along features seven colors;  you'll knit 2 rows, down and back, each day, choosing your color based on the day's recorded high temperature. The scarf also features a simple, optional design element based on the day's temperature compared to the historic averages for that day. Full instructions, background information, and worksheet are included.

Each kit contains 7 skeins (1 skein each of seven colors) of Loft by Brooklyn Tweed*, the Weather or Knot pattern and accompanying temperature averages worksheet.

Needle requirement: US 4 (3.75 mm) straight or 24" circular needle

Finished Dimensions: app. 78” long and 9.5” wide

Weathervane: (A) Thistle, (B) Almanac/Flannel, (C) Faded Quilt, (D) Button Jar, (E) Sap, (F) Hayloft, (G) Cinnabar

Growing Season: (A) Pumpernickel, (B) Snowbound, (C) Flannel, (D) Iceberg, (E) Bale, (F) Camper/Postcard, (G) Long Johns

Extended Forecast: (A) Soot, (B) Truffle Hunt, (C) Barn Owl/Stormcloud, (D) Pumice, (E) Birdbook, (F) Yellowstone, (G) Wool Socks

*While seven skeins of Loft is more than enough yarn to complete a scarf, we can't predict the weather for 2019, so are not able to guarantee that one skein of a particular color will be enough, depending on how many days a particular color is knit.

    Weather or Not Scarf

Posted by Carol on 28th Feb 2019

This kit has made a big difference in my attitude this winter. I ordered a kit after I read about the idea in the newspaper and I have actually been excited about all the cold weather we’ve been having because every day the high temp is 14 degrees or below I get to use the gorgeous purple Loft yarn. What a great way to follow the weather and have reason to actually look forward to cold temps. What a fun project!

I love the idea behind this scarf, clever Yarnery people! And I am a big fan of Brooklyn Tweed yarns, including Loft of course, so this project was made in heaven for me. It is even more fun now that the knitting has actually begun! YEAH!!! Thank you for a great idea!
