The time to think about making a Christmas stocking is now, not December!

This class gives you the opportunity to create a very personal stocking. The pattern and charts are provided. You choose yarn that makes the stocking special — school colors, favorite colors, or traditional Christmas colors.

This is the perfect class for those with knitting experience who want to get comfortable with two-color/stranded knitting. We will cover the basics of stranded knitting, including reading/following a colorwork pattern, carrying two colors of yarn, and incorporating continental-style knitting. And of course you'll personalize the stocking to making it just right for the intended recipient.

Materials Needed
Worsted weight yarn in 3 colors, about 200 g total (100 g of main color, 50 g each of 2 contrast colors)
US 4 (3.5 mm) – US 6(4 mm) 16” circular knitting needles
(not all sizes will be needed, depending on gauge for colorwork)
OR, 40" circular needles to use Magic Loop method

Before Class
With one color of your chosen yarn and needles, cast on 20 stitches and knit 4" in stockinette stitch (knitting right side rows, purling wrong side). We are looking for a gauge of 20 sts = 4” of knitting in stockinette stitch.

To succeed in this class you should be comfortable knitting and purling in the round, and using basic increases and decreases. No previous colorwork experience is required.

Please purchase materials ahead of time and bring them with you to the first class session. Registration for a class indicates you have read and agree to the class policies.
