Weather or Knot Scarf Pattern

$7.00

As featured in The New York Times! Track the temperature in a unique way, by creating a scarf that changes colors as the temperature does. The Weather or Knot scarf features seven colors; you'll knit 2 rows each day, choosing your color based on the day's recorded high temperature. The scarf also features a simple, optional design element based on the day's temperature compared to the historic averages for that day.

Finished Dimensions
Approx. 8" wide and 72" long

You'll Need
Coast by Holst Garn, 7 colors, or equivalent fingering-weight yarn
US 4 (3.75 mm) 24" circular needle or straight needles

While seven skeins of Coast is more than enough yarn to complete a scarf, we can't predict the weather, so are not able to guarantee that colors will be used evenly or that one skein of a particular color will be enough. Coast's generous yardage (383 yds) makes issues unlikely.

Using a US 4 will result in a somewhat open scarf, depending on your gauge. For a firmer fabric, you may want to use a US 3 (3.5 mm) needle. If you opt for the smaller needle, the resulting scarf will be a little narrower and shorter.
