You've likely seen headbands, hats, or scarves knit with the same design on both sides, with the colors reversed. You've maybe even assumed they're machine-knit. Not so! Learn to create a double layer of fabric with two right sides. You'll experiment with several ways to cast on, carry the yarns, and read charts for this style of knitting.
And while a coaster is not the point of learning the technique, it's a great starting point. We've given plenty of time for you to finish a coaster in class (pattern is included!), so you can go home, knit more of them, and move on to other double knitting projects.
Materials Needed
Two contrasting colors of DK- or worsted-weight yarn, 50 g each
Needles appropriate for the chosen yarn US 5 (3.75 mm) – US 7 (4.5 mm)
Crochet hook
Tapestry needle
